A 9-week study of the C.S. Lewis book The Screwtape Letters begins June 16, meeting Wednesdays at 7 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church. We welcome you to come to the church and join us as we discuss a few chapters each week! We do ask that you purchase a book on your own (any copy/edition will work!...ideas: Amazon, Christian Books, Barnes&Noble) and we will provide you with handouts to guide your reading and help you apply the topics to your own life! MORE ON THE BOOK: The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis is a satirical novel that contains 31 letters from Screwtape, a high level demon, to his nephew and protege, Wormwood, on how they can drive a new Christian away from God. These letters were written for the express purpose of instructing the young demon on the finer points of how to corrupt the human soul. Screwtape heavily emphasizes in the early chapters/letters that the most efficient way to fully corrupt the human soul is to do it as subtly as possible. Through the advice given to Wormwood, we can evaluate our own lives and how subtle challenges and “small” sins affect our relationships with God and family, and how they affect the growth of our faith.
